At Ackroyd House we try to cater for all the needs of our guests.

Ackroyd House offers two bedrooms to our guests on a Bed and Breakfast basis, Ackroyd House itself is a totally non smoking establishment, and however, guests are free to smoke in the grounds, respectfully using the ashtrays provided.

This access statement details the facilities that we, at Ackroyd House, provide. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact us by either telephone or e-mail.

PRE ARRIVAL

• Hourly bus service from Huddersfield Town Centre to the village of Thurstonland (approximately 6 miles)
• Hourly train service from Huddersfield town centre to the village of Stocksmoor, approximately one and a half miles from the village of Thurstonland.
• Ackroyd House is approximately 25 miles from Manchester airport and 20 miles from Leeds/Bradford airport
• Local taxis available on request
• Hospitals, Dentists and Opticians can be found either in Holmfirth (approximately 2 miles from Ackroyd House) or Huddersfield (approximately 6 miles from Ackroyd House)
• Even though guests are asked to estimate their time of arrival they are always welcome at all times
• Deposits are not required as we have always run our business on trust. Payment is by cash or cheque on departure.
• No credit/debit card facilities are available

ARRIVAL AND PARKING

On your arrival at the entrance to Ackroyd House, please keep left at the grassed roundabout and follow the driveway around for approximately 100 metres until you arrive at the designated parking area. The parking area provides for up to 6 cars.

Assistance with luggage is offered from the parking area to your room

Security lighting is situated in the parking area and around the perimeter of Ackroyd House. Torches are provided in both rooms for additional lighting

ENTRANCE AND RECEPTION

The front door to Ackroyd House is approached directly from the car park area. There are no steps from the car park to the reception area. The front door is 83 x 190cm. The reception area is carpeted with 80/20 carpet An audible smoke alarm is fitted in the reception area.

DINING

The Dining area is well lit with beige 80/20 carpet and light walls and paintwork.
Breakfast is served around a large dining table 110 x 175cms from the floor. There is ample clearance on all sides.The chair height is 100cm.
A selection of fruit juices, cereals and The Ackroyd House Fresh Fruit Platter are available on a chest 85cms high.
There is a music centre in the dining area please ask for a choice of background music if required.
There is no set time for Breakfast, guests are asked at what time that they would like breakfast served.
Dishes range from the traditional cooked breakfast. to speciality fish dishes. Continental and Vegetarian/Vegan are also available on request. Please feel free to discuss with Jayne or Andrew any special dietary needs that you may require.
Evening meals are not provided, however there are a multitude of diverse eateries within a ten minute drive of Ackroyd House. Where required we will gladly make reservations on behalf of our guests.
An assistance call button is situated in the dining room which will be answered at all times.
A fridge is provided in the dining room for guests to use for drinks, snacks etc. Fresh milk is provided in the fridge for guests to use in their rooms when required.

LAUNDRY/DRYING FACILITIES

• Washing and Drying facilities available on request
• Iron/Ironing board available on request

BEDROOMS

There are two bedrooms available at Ackroyd House, both with
Ensuite facilities, 80/20 wool carpets and quarry tiles in the bathroom. Both rooms have thermostatically controlled central heating. Extra blankets and allergy –free pillows are available on request
Personnel bath robes and slippers,hair dryer,soaps shampoos and shower gels are available in both guest rooms.

THE STABLE SUITE

The Stable Suite is a ground floor bedroom, accessed directly from the Reception area. There are no steps from the reception area to The Stable Suite.The room can be set up as either a twin room or as a superking double.
Single beds 100cm X 200cm X 60cm high, with ample clearance on both sides
Superking double     195 cms X   180 cms X 90 high with approximately 150cm clearance on both sides.
The Stable Suite has a private external door leading directly to the Ackroyd House grounds. There is a small step of approximately 6cm ( Door size :-  192 X 77cm).
The Ensuite is entered directly from the bedroom, with no steps.(Door size 195 X 75cm)
The shower area is 150 X 75 X 230cm with a step of 6cm from the floor.
The Shower area has a thermostatically controlled Shower, with a walk in entrance 230 X 60cm.   
Pedestal wash basin 85cm from the floor and fitted with easy-grip conventional taps
Ceiling lighting
Standard W C 40cm high

The Stable Suite offers Remote flat screen TV, CD/Radio player, DVD Player, Alarm Clock, Hot drinks making facilities and local Bottled water
There are two bedside lamps on chests 55cm from the floor
The Stable Suite has a total of 10 electric sockets approximately     20cm from the floor level. There is a Private Sitting area in The Stable Suite, approximately 5 X 5m with two leather arm chairs     50cm high with arm rests and support
All windows are double glazed
Free wireless internet connection available

THE VALLEY VIEW SUITE

Accessed from The Reception area with one step (18cm) onto the first landing  (90 X 80cm) then 12 steps (12cm)  onto the first floor landing (180 X 140cm).The staircase to the first floor landing  has a full banister rail on the left hand side going up. Both the landings and the staircase are fitted with 80/20 wool carpets
The Valley View Suite is accessed directly from the first floor landing with no steps. (Door size 197     x   80    )
The Valley View Suite has a King size bed,  180 cms x  160  cms x 90   cms high with approximately 150 cms clearance on both sides.
The ensuite is entered directly from the bedroom with no steps.
The shower area is 78 X 117cm with a step of 3cm from the floor
The shower area has a thermostatically controlled shower, with a walk in entrance 48 X 227cm      
Pedestal wash basin 85 cms from the floor and fitted with easy grip conventional taps.
Ceiling lighting
Standard WC   40 cms high

The Valley View Suite offers remote flat screen TV, CD / Radio player DVD player, Alarm clock, hot drinks making facilities and local bottled water.

• Guests are encouraged to make use of the various gardens areas…..and explore!!
• Various lawned areas and terraced beds
• Circular pond approximately 1 metre deep and 3 metres in diameter
• Ample lighting on grounds adjacent to Ackroyd House itself
• Various locations for seating
• “ Top of the World “ seating area accessible by…12…..steps ranging from…25.cms to…10.cms in height
