It is difficult to disagree with the writer who recently described Thurstonland as ‘the epitome of rural England’. Built on a hilly ridge (even the cricket team are known as ‘the Men from the Hill’) the village offers magnificent views towards Emley and Emley Mast in the east and the Holme Valley in the west.
